Tree Reduction and Thinning
Tree Crown Reduction and Thinning are both forms of tree pruning, but each one achieves a different outcome.
Tree Crown Reduction is the process of reducing the weight and size of a tree without significantly changing its organic shape. This process helps get rid of damaged, diseased and dead branches whilst also decreasing the amount of shade it provides.
The amount we cut back will be based on the specific species and location of the tree, but we won’t ever cut it back so far that it causes stress to the tree.
Tree Crown Thinning involves removing a number of smaller, secondary branches on a tree to help lengthen the age of the tree and the amount of time it remains standing. By thinning a tree it helps reduce the weight and helps minimise wind resistance, meaning that a tree or its branches are less likely to fall in bad weather.
It is typically broad-leaved trees that require thinning but it is a process that can be completed on trees both large and small.
With Tree Crown Thinning, you’ll find that the overall size and shape of the tree shouldn’t be affected, it is the density that is, enabling more light to pass through the branches.
Both of these processes are some of the most difficult and precise types of tree pruning so it’s important to hire a professional.
